Hello everyone, we’re Jemma and Riley, your JCR welfare reps this year! We’re both on hand to help you however we can with any welfare related issues. We’ll be the ones emailing you with updates on welfare events, workshops and other things to look out for, both within college and across the wider university. We’re also free for a chat any time; if you need us, or want to ask anything, let us know over email or Facebook message and we’ll try to arrange something.

In terms of Covid this year, we unfortunately won’t be able to run as many in person events such as Late Night Tea Break, Yoga or movie nights, however hopefully lots of these will move to some kind of online format. Other services such as peer support and welfairy will still be happening however. We understand that Covid-19 may bring up additional welfare concerns for many people, but please don’t struggle alone and do reach out to anyone in the welfare team if you want support or simply a chat.


I've been working to:

  1. Promote the Undercroft to the JCR, and liaise with its management to ensure its smooth running.

  2. Assist in overseeing the alcohol cellar and ensure it is stocked with suitable drinks.

  3. Oversee the production of the JCR photomontages and display of photographs of Christ Church clubs for the Undercroft.

Those of you who are back already will have noticed a large marquee in the masters garden. This is the NEW Undie. The marquee can be closed on all sides (transparent so you can still enjoy the view) ,will be heated and (?I think?) has funky lights so there’s no reason not to be there.


Sadly, the college has reduced the number of bar staff this year so there’ll only be 2 people behind the bar. To cope with the changes, the undie is going to be offering a reduced drinks menu. Currently, Emily (the bar manager) is planning to have peroni, chch ale, mulled wine, G&Ts and aspall’s cider available plus several non-alcoholic drinks (alcohol-free beer, fentimans rose lemonade etc). These are all going to be served in biodegradable paper cups. This menu is almost certainly going to expand after a couple of weeks once the bar has got past any teething problems so if you have any requests/feel anything vital is missing please message me! Emily is also planning to offer up some 6-person dealz.

The college is also restricting the undie opening hours to 5-7 only – HOWEVER, the masters garden and marquee will be open till 8. The undie (the actual undie) will also be offering a click and collect service during the day till 4.30.


I've been working to:

  1. Maintain and develop the JCR website

  2. Promote the IT needs of JCR members

  3. Help with any WiFi trouble you might be having

    • A new WiFi network called CHCH-Members, replacing CHCH, is gradually being rolled out.

    • If ChCh-Members is slow where you're living in college, fill in form or email

    • Every week I check up on these most urgent cases and send a review to the IT technicians.

I'm in the process of negotiating with college on establishing a grant for academic technology, given the heightened need in the current situation. This seeks to take into account the affordability of technology from varying economic backgrounds.


Hello! as the JCR LGBTQ+ Officer I’ll be keeping you updated with queer life and events in Oxford. Here a little summary of my role:

  1. I’m here to let you know about events happening across the college and Oxford organised by myself, OULGBTQsoc and more!

  2. I’m your point of contact for any queries about LGBTQ+ life or allyship. Also please reach out to me if you’re interested in our college Gender Expression Fund, offering reimbursement for the purchase of gender-affirming items.

  3. I’m a welfare-based role, which means I’m always around for a chat if you want some company, or I can help you find someone on our welfare team who you can talk to about any worries or issues.

  4. Hopefully I’ll be running some LGBTeas or LGTBrunches (puns to be improved) throughout term to keep everyone together and in touch with the other college’s queer community

It’s likely that we won’t be able to host many In-person events due to the rule of 6 but I’ll be doing my best to competently run online meets and I’ll still be able to head out for tea or cakes somewhere if anyone needs to get out for a little

Hello! Angela and I are your Arts reps until the end of Hilary term. We are in charge of all arts-related matters in college. This year, we will be redecorating the JCR. Traditionally, we host an arts week in Hilary term, so stay tuned for an easter egg hunt and more. If you have an arts project, do not hesitate to approach us for funding, we are more than willing to support your ideas!

The picture rental scheme will be happening this year. By paying a small deposit, you can rent out an artwork for display in your room. Check your arts emails for more updates, we are planning to go ahead with this in week 3. The sign up is open already!
